Kickass Boredom

Saturday, November 1 2008 at 01:05 (Daily Life) (, , )

Happy All Saint’s Eve, which is like Hallowe’en without the gayness and the cheap costumes. And the need to dress up. Oh, and apparently Hallowe’en is now too scary, so it must be toned down. W-T-F.

So I’ll start with the Boredom bit of the title, even though it isn’t necessarily the most chronologically relevant. Over the last two days I have endevoured to create a scale model of my Design Technology resistant materials project, which will be (with any luck) a small kayak, about eight foot long, due to several limitations. Whilst pretty much everybody in my class has slapped together a few chunks of balsa wood to create a shelf or cupboard, I’ve had a little more difficulty, and a LOT of bugging from my teacher. So I’m hoping that this will make her shut the hell up.
Anyway, I’m building the model out of about 2mm thick card and quarter-inch balsa strips, but right now I haven’t actually done any building because (and here comes the boredom, bloody great drowning waves of it) I’ve had to lie on the floor of my bedroom, work out exact measurements for the full size boat and then scale them down to a quarter size and then draw them painstakingly onto the card. I do actually have some pictures of what it’s taken two days to draw out, but it’s 12:15 and the camera is at the other end of the house, and my bed is warm. But needless to say, the drawings (or outlines, whatever) look pitiful but are in fact mostly perfectly angled at 65º, then 135º, then 160º and have all of their lengths mostly right. I’ll admit that I rounded a bit when I had to measure 2.08166666666666667 with a regular ruler. Hell, I do have a half-millimetre metal rule, but that’s damn near impossible to read without a magnifying glass. Point being, I hate decimals and I’m happy that I actually finally get to go to town with a glue gun tomorrow. And I might post some pictures, although I’ve learned that most promises made in blogs are lies.

Um. I went to see Elliot de Bondt on Wednesday, we played much video games including Boom Blox, Brawl (they got pwned) and MarioKart Wii (I got owned). It was nice to see him again, but by God is his brother the most annoying littl ebastard ever conceived. “You can’t play as Meta Knight, he’s my character.” “You can’t use the Wii wheel, I’m too insecure.” He argues with his brother about who is the bigger Sonic the Hedgehog fan at the dinner table. He asks questions like “So you can use a Wii Remote in a Wii game?” and “Did you know that the new Sonic the Hedgehog game is coming out?” I’m not sure how old he is, but I’m pretty sure that he’s in year 9 or 10. Please, please, somebody shoot Jordan de Bondt.

Well, yesterday, had decimals, so let us fastforward back to today. That is, yesterday since this is after midnight. Umm… (Stolen and edited from a conversation with Max due to tired and laziness) Played Chrono Trigger for a bit this morning, did calculations and drawings for several hours, put on very basic Hallowe’en costume, went to get together over the road, played GoldenEye with my brother and friend, ate food, went home, saw review of Quantum of Solace on Xbox 360 (not good), started up STEAM to bug Max about it and then did some internet surfing-ness. And wrote a blog.

Well, that’s all for now, folks. I shall attempt to be back tomorrow with at least some pictures and captions from the model building. But I may equally fail.

I saw the Twilight full-length theatrical trailer. That was sweet.

Attempting to listen to: Parachutes by Coldplay, but still fairly hooked on ABBA…

Was there really any other thing to that Blog other than boredom? The new sonic game (the one with the werehog) looks SO funny due to it being massively crap…. also the Wii Wheel… from what i’ve heard isn’t that good…. because it disconnects REALLY easily…So you have to hold it Upright all the time….. So that Jordan kid is dumb…… (shoot him) annnnnnnnnnnnndum….. Yeah…… I haven’t gotten any work done and i’m going with those lies in blogs might be referring to me ^^

Now i can eat my bagle

Well, Chrono Trigger was kickass. Sonic Unleashed will undoubtedly suck. Wii wheel? does it connect? I don’t think it does. Not in an electronic way. Hell, I had trouble getting my Wii remote out of the damn thing. And must you really repeat or comment on every single thing I write?
    It’s spelt bagel.

Ben, you just had to drop that last comment about bugging me in there didn’t you? Bah! I should have seen that one coming.

The QoS game isn’t actually too bad. Being an avid Bond fan I got it today, the gameplay can be a bit repetitive, eg: you go through a map killing all those in your path. It could have been better but it’s not a bad game. And, netuarlly, the CoD4 engine can instantly be recognised.

Also, I would just like to point out; although the game is called the Quantum of Solace, it does, in fact, also include the Casino Royale story.

But Ben, what else are we meant to do in these comments? Say, “Oh, that is good to here”? That is the sort of thing you do to peoples blogs that you look up to…. e.g. If someone who does game reviews posted a blog saying they finally got a job or something….
Other than that…. I don’t see what else to put…. so i might as well go through the key moments and add my own comments to it….
Also, Oh I thought I spelt it right…. my spell checker didn’t say anything…. either that or i didn’t see it cause I was watching TV whilst typing…. that is fun…..

Max – that last comment was simply what I copied out of our conversation. And I am aware of the Casino Royale story following – Video Reviews FTW. Also, really, we should get together and play GoldenEye sometime. You must experience it.
Chris – You mean “that is good to HEAR” Also, if you can’t think of anything to say, don’t say anything. It’s that simple.

  6. Christmas Spirit? No. « I,Blog said,

[…] remember whether I’ve mentioned him on this blog before… Yes, of course I have. I called his brother a wanker. Yes, so since we had been communicating through Wii messages (the only form of free communication […]
